Here is the the page where you can go for more info/address or timetable: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=27166928124&ref=ts.
Peace
Nish
Tell you what. to say ” Melbournes warped sense of hip hop is bs.”
err… i think katja is full of it!
To..err ‘MeToo’
Don’t just quote people without the full context of what is being said, she has a valid point about hip hop in terms of the judges @ groove. btw dont go hatin hidin behind a alias.. no offence if you name is actually ‘MeToo’
Peace. Love. One Unity
Ef |Jigsaw Sneakers|
oooooooooooh snap!!
To errEfren,
No need to quote the full context as I was actually agreeing with some of the things she was saying until she said that line. That is uncalled for don’t you think? Now that’s what I call hatin. After that line it just made me think that she’s just another hater whos crew or favorite crew didn’t win. No offense to you as I really like your crew. You bring something different to the table.
I kept it short as I don’t have the time to go through a lengthy argument on history.
Putting my real name up there wouldn’t make a difference as you still wouldn’t who I am. I’m just a spectator not a dancer. Putting your name ‘Efren’ didn’t make any difference to me. I still don’t know you.
Ouch! Snap indeed. Well MeToo. I believe you’ve taken what Ive said a little much to heart. I was simply looking @ Melbourne’s ‘warped sense of hip hop’ from a judging perspective. If you notice afterwards Robotgirl and some others agreed with me that the judging is warped not because anyone is sour about places, simply because a lot of these judges are prodominately jazz and studio based. A lot of those crews, regardless of whether I think it should be classified as hip hop or not, brought new moves to the scene and I felt that judges focused too much on technical aspects, when hip hop is about funk, soul, rhythm and expression.
I’m no hater. The crew I was there too support (Jigsaw Sneakers) perfomed @ VHC and I told them I didnt think their routine deserved to win.. Im not going to say things purely because of my friendships with crews.
Robotgirl made the comment about why we dont have enough people who arent jazz based dancers that we’d get to judge and that leads on from what I was saying. There’s no hate MeToo..purely making a comment that I don’t think judge panels should be made up of mostly studio, trained, production crew type judges who put to many restrictions on performances.
Alright. My apology if I offended you on that one. Let’s just hope the organisers will take all these comments on board and learn from them.
Peace.
Fair enough mate but the only reason I commented to what u said is if you agreed with some of the points Katja was saying then you wouldn’t say she is “full of it” as that would imply that everything that she said was unaccounted for.
Whether your a spectator or a dancer your still a person, and people have identities. at least if I dont know u someone else reading this might, it’s a public forum. Take credit for what you say. Least you know of the name of the person talking to you whether u me or not. Plus I would like to know who likes our crew, I appreciate your support. Thank you
Peace. Love. One Unity
Ef |Jigsaw Sneakers|
Nah bro. Not offended at all
For sure..keep the comments coming about all of this
Its great feedback for Groove and Hoopdreamz..plus it takes more than that to offend me.
Hoopdreamz you’ve been given tips from dancers for so many years about your shows yet changes have been minimal.
I for one would like to see The prize money increase! if you want to justify the price your charging. It will be a matter of time when people realize that if your running at an event to fund your income the event suffers cause the real passion is making money not dancing.
props to ROBOTGIRL now she runs some of the best dance events in melbourne and most of the entry fee’s are FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep doin what your doing hoopdreamz but please listen to us public and especially the dancers!
“Your_Imagination”:
Thanks for reinforcing the fact that dancers are worth listening to, and trust me, we do, the dancers themselves can vouch for that.
We give ALL dancers the freedom to contact us directly to discuss any issues and any gripes they may have with our events, that’s why we have meetings with them. Dancers even call us at weird hours of the day which is why we have a great rapport with them, Not just in Melbourne, not just all other Australian states, but internationally as well.
That way, we know who to address and who to discuss things with. We try to be as transparent as possible, to make sure that no one is ill-informed or left out in the dark.
we at Hoopdreamz would be more than happy to discuss your issues if you want, so there’s no pointing of fingers and
misconceptions about what we do, and who we do it for, and what our motivations are.
Like I said here before, you can directly email me on oliver@hoopdreamz.com.au. No smokes and mirrors, no avoidance of issues, no bullshit, just straight up talk.
It would also be good to find out who you are so we get to know more of our “public”, as you put it.
cheers – Oliver
Hey Oliver
what about an event like Hip Hop at Fed square or relink the elements. u’ve bin 2 events like that b4. theres emcee battles, beatbox, bboying, hip hop dance, popping, locking, etc. U reckon hoopdreamz can have an event like that someday? I know preparing Groove is hard enuff as it is not 2 mention BG at the end of the yr but it would be great 4 every1 2 c that theres more hip hop events out there than jus making chorey or preparing a kick ass show. we have a lot of hip hop crew events, i mean along wid groove, theres get krump’d, aus hip hop champs, vic crew challenge, and many others. something different 4 the dancers would be a good thing 4 them 2 experience. dont know if many would agree wid me but its jus wut i think
Peace
Martin
MArtin: for sure man! We’d love to organize something like that… I went to relink the elements earlier this year and it was dope! Personally I really want to host an MC battle for local talents because I know there’s lots of talented MCs out there who’d love to spit on stage! It’s just a matter of us not stepping on any of the other organizers’ toes, coz I know other organizers already have these types of Hip Hop events on their calendar. But yeh for sure man, thanks for the feedback!
to martin and olibear, i also would like to see more events like that happen.
i myself personally have been to every single relink the elements and freestyle at fed square.
and they are great,
they show the other side to hip hop culture and it also educates the general public of what hip hop is about.
Hoopdreamz boys, keep that in mind aiightz!
peace, Margie G
for the people who whinge and whine and complain about the groove ticket price… you might want to look at these prices for an event
Cost:
Premium: $55 Adult / $45 Child / $190 Family of four
A Reserve: $45 Adult / $35 Child / $150 Family of four
B Reserve: $35 Adult / $25 Child / $110 Family of four
im not going to name which event this is, most of you would know anyway but they are another hip hop comp in the same industry as groove.
so guys, don’t complain about the $25 presold price and the $35 door price…and let me tell you, for this price, it wasn’t even worth going to that event. with groove, they deliver
wen will the vidoes be up
there’s no video uploads coming from DanceLounge for Groove Eliminations. So you’d have to scour youtube for shows
I think what everyone is saying is that the price for groove may not be justified considering factors such as
Prizes
Cost of venue (If you really want to find out how much camberwell town hall cost to hire just enquire and you’ll find out its not alot at all, so where does the rest of the money go?)
There are other factors of course which i dont know about but thats just my two cents
Does anyone have any footage or know where I can find footage for the 2nd heats for Melbourne?
I’d really like to see Detours performance – not to mention all the other crews as well!
wow, flava rocks!
