Over one thousand of the world’s top street dancers will come together in Las Vegas for the 2009 World Hip Hop Dance Championship July 29 – August 2nd.
An event true to the real values of hip hop culture. Crews from 30 nations will serve up their best old school and new school moves in two minute performances determined to capture the world title and international bragging rights.
The five-day event includes panel discussions with respected living legends and icons of hip hop dance, a funk styles room for traditional old schoolers, popping and locking competitions and the Urban Moves dance workshops presented by the most celebrated hip hop dancers and choreographers.
National qualifications within each country are conducted to determine who participates in the World Hip Hop Dance Championship. Crews from countries with no qualifying event may contact Hip Hop International to request a special invitation to participate.

HoopDreamz, as the Australian reps, pls provide your teams with something as simple as AUS shirts. It was difficult to differentiate the aussie teams from the other 1500+ dancers.
All in all, it was fantastic to see that the comp is steering towards performance and choreography, rather than tricks & the typical hype around crews. I thought the placings were different in a good way and definitely well deserved.
Finals highlights for me: the second showcase by FannyPack, open division winners R.A.F Crew (France) & ranking 3rd Joyce and The Boys (Singapore), Varsity winners Request crew (NZ) – these girls are incredible.
Big ups to the NZ crews – creative & fierce!!
Heya Drumstick! Not sure if your query had been addressed but in case not – The first 12 adult crews qualify to finals PLUS the defending champs. T’was a little confusing after it was communicated by Howard (HHI founder) that this applies to all divisions.
On another note, it was informed that in future, Battlegrounds will be the qualifying rounds for HHI comps – Can someone please confirm if this is true?
